Deceased research subject | NIH documentation states that this research subject died following the conclusion of research efforts. This research is titled "Feasability of a visual prosthesis for the blind based on intracortical microstimulation of the visual cortex" and was published in a medical journal (Brain, 1996, issue 119) and is widely referenced in over 100 papers. The bottom line regarding this research subject is that NIH FOIA Officers cannot locate any record of this project or the volunteer research subject. Apparently the records have been sealed because this project was not legitimate NIH research, but rather, it was a classified Special Access Program. This woman is dead and there are no records of it. Can anyone identify who this "Maryanne" in Bethesda is?
